Skin Clinic

Australia has one of the highest rates of melanoma in the world and melanoma is often referred to as 'Australia's national cancer'. Early detection and treatment of skin cancers is associated with a better prognosis.

It is ideal to be familiar with the look of your skin, to enable you to pick up any changes that might suggest a skin cancer.

Things to look for:

  • New moles

  • Moles that increases in size

  • An outline of a mole that has changed

  • A spot that changes colour from brown to black or is varied

  • A spot that becomes raised or developsa a lump within it

  • The surface of a mole becoming rough, scaly or ulcerated

  • Moles that itch or tingle

  • Moles that bleed or weep

  • Spots that look different from the others

Sunsmart recommend regular checks by your GP as being the best way to screen for early skin cancers in addition to self-monitoring.

Spirometry

Spirometry is a test used to aid in the diagnose of asthma, chronic, obstructive plumonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing. The test will effectively measure how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you can inhale and how much air and how quickly you can exhale.

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a non-invasive and safe medical test that detects and records cardiac (heart) health and any abnormalities. This is carried out by way of an electrical activity of the heart muscle and displays this information as a trace on the screen of the ECG and in a printed format to be interpreted by your Doctor.
